But when the market stops going straight up, that’s when you can really get into trouble. So you need to keep paying attention and exercise common sense over your portfolio. And as the title suggests, there’s no particular magic in making money (or keeping it), just good old-fashioned common sense. The trick is exercising it! Deciding on what stocks to get into is, of course, important. But once you’re in, it doesn’t mean your work is over. Whatever your stocks are, whether they be actual holdings or stocks you’re considering, don’t stop monitoring the fundamentals of those stocks.

What I mean is: If one of the criteria for getting into a stock in the first place was that it had a low Debt-to-Equity ratio, but you then saw that ratio change to an unacceptable level (a level that would not have put it on your radar screen in the first place), then you should consider getting out of that stock and looking for a new stock to replace it. One that currently does meet your criteria.

For instance, let’s say that you use the Zacks Rank as a timing indicator and you look at the Zacks #1 Rank List for immediate movers. If in a few weeks, earnings estimates are moving down and Zacks Ranks it a Zacks #4 (‘sell’) Rank, take note and consider dumping it. Sure it was a Zacks #1 (‘strong buy’) Rank, but it’s not a Zacks #1 Rank (or Zacks #2 (‘buy’) Rank) anymore. Think about it, if you never would have gotten into a Zacks #4 Rank in the first place, why would you now want to hold onto one? That’s using your common sense.

What if you’re a momentum investor and you generally look for stocks trading within 10% of its 52-week high (a great item by the way) and it suddenly falls below that level? Well, if you’re only interested in focusing on stocks within 10% of its high and it’s now 15% or 20% (or more) off its high … then move on. The momentum has seemingly shifted and so should your focus.

And don’t convince yourself to hang onto your losers either. If a company reported bad earnings and the stock is down –8% to -10% against you, get out. Don’t let your love of a stock (or denial) ruin your portfolio. Almost every big losing trade anybody has ever had in their portfolio (-50%, -60% or even –90% or more) could have been exited when they were just beginning to crumble.

If you get out and it zips back up, you can always get back in if you want. But if it keeps going down, you’re just losing more and more money. And the price you could have gotten out at earlier is now a price you only wish you could get out at now.

So once you’ve found the items that have proven to work well for you in picking profitable stocks, be sure to monitor those values. And if they no longer meet the winning criteria, get rid of them fast and find new ones that do.

Many people like to wash their dog to keep them clean and smelling nice, particularly if they live indoors. They also feel that it keeps his skin and ladies leather coat healthy.

It may surprise you to know that if your dog has a normal skin and ladies leather coat, bathing isn’t all that important in keeping it healthy. It’s more important to feed them a quality food, so the natural skin oils help to repel dirt and keep their ladies leather coat soft. Some dogs are washed only once a year, and they are clean and smell great.

Some less expensive foods aren’t as good for your dog’s ladies leather coat as foods with a higher price tag – this relates to the quality of ingredients. If you find your dog’s ladies leather coat is dry and harsh, consider adding omega fatty acids to his meal several times a day. You can purchase a specific dog supplement to do this, or you can try adding sardines to his meal – fish oil is very good for his ladies leather coat.

If you do want to bath your dog, here are some guidelines.

Choose your shampoo carefully. Never use a shampoo designed for humans,  as the detergents are often too harsh for a dog’s skin. They may dry out their skin and lead to irritation and itching. There are many shampoos available for dogs; choose one that is mild and soap free.

Use warm water, it’s much more comfortable for your dog. Some dogs are afraid of the hose, and enjoy being washed in a large tub. Use a small bucket or a scoop to pour water over his back.

When you’re washing him, don’t scrub his ladies leather coat harshly. It can irritate his skin. A gentle lather will be just as effective and he’ll enjoy it more. You may want to spend some time massaging his skin – he’ll love it. Rinse off all traces of shampoo thoroughly, and consider using a leave in conditioner, especially if his ladies leather coat is dry.

A good towel dry will finish off his bath, and stop you getting drenched when he shakes! Some people like to blow dry their dogs. It’s not uncommon for small fluffy breeds to be dried like this. Be careful not to burn their skin with the hot air.

How often do you have to bath your dog? As mentioned, some people wash their dogs very infrequently, but you may not be comfortable with that. If your dog has a skin problem, your vet may have prescribed a medicated shampoo. You may have to shampoo your dog with this as often as twice weekly.

For dogs with normal skin, the less they’re bathed, the better. Feeding them well has a much greater impact on skin health than washing. Ideally, wash them no more frequently than monthly. This will allow you to use the monthly flea control products and not wash them off in between applications.

A clean dog is much nicer to cuddle, and he won’t leave dirty marks on your couch. Take care with what you feed him and how you bath him, and he’ll be soft and smelling sweet.

Still, undaunted, I looked at loads of crazy methods. And some were crazier than others.  And that’s about ALL I did – look! They seemed okay on the surface. Then came the crunch…”for a mere £59.95 I can show you how to…” etc etc, we’ve all been there.  Eventually, however, I took the proverbial buller by the sharp bits and started something. Only a small idea, but my own. I was literally starting from scratch.

The result has just recently been published and I have to say it’s not too bad for a first attempt. Needless to say, there were many alterations and changes of colour and necessary “housekeeping” to get it right.

My initial thought was “WOW! My passport to the easy life with untold wealth!” Then reality came a-knocking.  I realised that if I was going to get this enterprise off the starting blocks, I’d need to make folk aware the site was there in the first place! DOH! My initial phase was via some press releases, which have had some hits. I also signed up with Twitter to spread the word about. And, yes, article directories. Of which this is the first.

Interestingly enough, whenever you hunt around for worthwhile products for your site, it interests me how you can be DELUGED with spam. It really is an information overload. Most of it is rubbish and gets deleted, but there are some good things in there. Some of which have given me more ideas for additional product later on. Having regularly checked both my High Profits & Clickbank accounts, I’m encouraged to see several hits from my site, but nothing tangible (saleswise) as yet. Hope springs eternal, or something of that ilk!

I was VERY encouraged in reading an article about remaining positive and staying focussed. It is SO easy to become disillusioned and downhearted when it seems everyone else seems to be coining it in. I know there is a LOT of work ahead, not least of which is publicising my enterprise. I have a lot of faith in what I’ve put together, I guess it’s only a matter of time.
